After an awesome award-winning excursion to Ubisoft MTL, I am finally back into the swing of things with The Co-Signers. The team has made some amazing progress on building the level that Chris, Jake, and I created a few weeks ago. Damean's art looks fantastic and we even have almost all of the features completed. But with our Alpha deadline and EAE day approaching, we are scambling to integrate all of the systems together. Will we make it!? Read ON!
One hurdle that the team is looking at right now is getting the collisions for the game world to be correct. Because some of the surfaces are still place-holders, we have to set precise collisions for the movement script to work as needed for the Point-Man. On the Hacker's side, there are some issues with the EMP being used properly. All of the engineers seem pretty confident that this can all be addressed before integration day which is next week. I think we are probably going to crunch on that day but hopefully we won't have to.
Design-wise I am a bit worried that the level we designed is based too much around 90 degree angles in order to force tension. Some classmates have playtested the level and have said that it works but I just want to make sure that this architecture does not become a crutch for the game over time. Also, I am very concerned that this level has too much teaching in it and the players will be a bit overwhelmed. EAE Day will be a fantastic opportunity to open the level up to people who have never seen this game in action so their opinions will give us a direction to take.
Well, thats all from me now - I must get back to work and search for places to live in MTL for the internship on May 1st!!
