I just finished a Skype meeting with the whole team and they have come up with some great ideas from their new brain storm. I'm sure you are super excited to see what they've come up with and so... Read ON!In order to make this easier, I'll convey the team's ideas in order of character.
Point-Man
-Make him feel more like a person rather than the legs of the operation
-New arsenal of distractions
-Possible weapons? Dart gun?
-An EMP bomb to help out the Hacker should he get into a tight situation with the security system.
-Get rid of the Tracker bugs. Give the Hacker IR nodes instead.
-Find a way to share communication with info of the world with the Hacker
Hacker
-Think of new input method other than clicking.
-Streamline the information at hand for them - better UI.
-Change the amount of cameras capable of accessing from 3 to 1 at a time.
-Introduce new types of nodes to their environment to mix up gameplay.
-IR nodes to see where guard heat signatures are
-Security clearance: the Hacker is locked out of an area in the grid until the Point Man finds the access and activates it.
So, like in all brainstorm sessions, the game has just been bombarded by a million features and the scope just got ballooned even more. I'm not too worried yet though because they are all just ideas thrown at the wall right now and we will trim them as they go along. Overall though, I think it is a pretty goo start to building team morale which, to me, is extraordinarily valuable.
As for the rest of the week, a lot of the guys are taking a vacation from the semester and are going to relax for a few days or catch up on some work. I, on the other-hand, must continue to handle some personal things at home while balancing development on two games, all my classwork, and preparing for back-to-back trips to GDC and Montreal for the Ubisoft competition. Whew! Boy do I need a vacation at some point.
Well, better get back to the grind!
