Here is the link to the pitch
There were about 20 pitches total delivered yesterday and they were all great. Some had better mechanics than other while some of the pitches did not go over, the games that were hidden in there seemed fantastic. I certainly made a few mental notes during some of them as I would love to work on them.
Zac and I went last so while we did do a great job on timing and presentation, the crowd was a bit tired from all of the other pitches that happened before them. I mean, 20 pitches is a lot! Who wouldn't be tired from absorbing that much information?
Ah the game, you want to hear about the game? Cellblock is an asymmetrical 3D cooperative game where one person is playing a prisoner with a 1st-person view while another player is a hacker with a top-down view of the prison. The point of the game (right now, mind you) is to guide the prisoner of the prison without getting him caught and the hacker's location traced. Both will result in "game over" for the players. The entire game is based around questioning the idea of trust between two players. The two of them need to trust each other to make the right decisions and help one another out to succeed. I thought it was a pretty cool concept and Zac agreed.
As for the feedback? Well, there was some worry that the game did not truly go "all in" on the idea of trust. As a suggestion, we were told to pursue the prisoner's dilemma more and explore more mechanics where the two players' fate are more intertwined. I see what they mean, and (hopefully) I'll be able to explore more of that with other people in my cohort if the game gets picked to go on into prototyping.
We will find out Thursday!
Until then,
